Course ID: FQUEWU408
Course Name: Nursing care Management of the Person Receiving Home Mechanical Ventilation
Credits: 1

This one contact hour home study continuing education program will provide a review of mechanical ventilation and the nursing responsibilities associated with management of the person who is receiving home mechanical ventilation. Mechanical ventilation refers to the use of life-support technology to perform the work of breathing for persons who are unable to do so on their own. While the majority of critically ill patients in today's intensive care units (ICUs) require a period of this treatment, there is a growing number of the population requiring mechanical ventilation at home and/or in long-term care facilities. Nursing care of the person receiving either noninvasive or invasive home mechanical ventilation is an integral part of successful nursing management.
